Dr Catherine Houghton (Co-Chair) is an experienced qualitative researcher with a particular interest in case study research and qualitative evidence synthesis. Catherine is a registered nurse and children’s nurse and completed her PhD exploring clinical skills education in nursing, using a multiple case study design. She now is employed as a lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, NUI, Galway and has led and been involved in other qualitative studies in the field of education and dementia research. She has published on critical aspects of qualitative methodology including ethics, analysis and rigour. Catherine is currently PI on a qualitative evidence synthesis for the Cochrane Methodology Review Group exploring the barriers and facilitators to recruitment to trials in healthcare. Read more.
