Congratulations to Orlaith Cormican and Dr Maura Dowling on their new paper “Living with relapsed myeloma: Symptoms and self-care strategies”, which was published recently in the Journal of Clinical Nursing.
Orlaith and Maura used focus group interviews (n = 4) with relapsed myeloma patients (n = 15) and carers (n = 9) to explore which symptoms relapsed myeloma patients experience and what self-care strategies are used.

Orlaith Cormican is a Clinical Research Nurse and Health Research Board (HRB) SPHeRE Programme PhD Scholar based in the HRB Clinical Research Facility at NUI Galway. She is currently developing a symptom self-management healthcare app for individuals with relapsed multiple myeloma. Orlaith is a member of our QUESTS Education Working Group.
Dr Maura Dowling is a Senior Lecturer within the School of Nursing and Midwifery at NUI Galway, and director of the Master of Health Sciences (Oncology nursing) programme. Maura’s main research activities are focused on oncology and haematology survivorship issues. Maura is a member of our QUESTS Research Working Group.
