Professor Jenny Donovan

    Professor Jenny Donovan is Director of the NIHR CLAHRC West and Professor of Social Medicine at the University of Bristol. A social scientist by training, the thread running through her research has been to develop, refine and extend the contribution of qualitative research methods to improving health, healthcare, and research design and participation. She is PI or co-PI of a wide range of studies, including the NIHR ProtecT and CRUK/DH CAP studies – the largest trials of prostate cancer treatment and screening in the world – and more than 16 fully integrated qualitative studies aiming to understand and improve recruitment to randomised controlled trials, and qualitative studies aiming to understand and prevent suicide. She is an NIHR Senior Investigator, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci), Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS), Fellow of the Faculty of Public Heath, and was awarded an OBE in 2013 for services to social medicine.
